While a simple glue-up works well for most static repairs on broken plastic parts, if the broken piece is thereafter exposed to extra stress, it will be likely to break again! So for such repairs a little bit of extra strengthening will be needed!
One way to make a cheap, sturdy and durable repair for broken plastic parts (demonstrated in the video) is by embedding some metal wires in the plastic directly around the break/glue line. This was done here on my broken tripod head mount

Always apply common sense and make sure you operate in a safe and secure manner.
For this project this means, do not cut your fingers, burn the house down or put a burning soldering iron in your eye. Thank you.

    You will need:
    - Some superglue / CA glue
    - Some copper wires
    - A soldering iron
    - Some wire strippers or a lighter

    1) Glue to broken parts in place to give them initial support
    2) With the soldering iron, tack weld (tack solder?) the wire in place making sure it covers both sides of the break line.
    3) Apply heat to the wire via the soldering iron so that, as the plastic melts, the wire sinks into the plastic
    4) Rub gently the plastic with the soldering iron to give it a smoother appearance
    5) (Optional) When the repair is cold, sand it off for a cleaner finish and apply paint if required (this was not done in the video since my broken tripod is not planned to enter any beauty queen contests anytime soon)
