Vid shows how I “injection” mold small plastic parts using a 10mm syringe. These small parts only use 1cc (1ml) of plastic, so I buy small 3cc syringes. The one part of the 2 part liquid plastic is hard on the syringes, it sticks to the inside. Therefore I clean them out when I am done with them each day. I have to clean out the injector syringe after each pour, as the plastic starts to harden after only 3 minutes. Syringe prices vary, but I have found TSC to be a good source for Vetrenary use syringes. The sizes I have found useful are 35cc, 20cc, 12cc and 3cc, depending on the size of what you are making.
Note, ALWAYS wear safety glasses, and some type of rubber or plastic gloves are recommended. I couldn’t wear gloves in the vid, since I had to handle the camera. I also put newspaper or something onto the table, since you always spill a small amount of the chemicals. I pour a small amount of the plastic chemicals into a small cheap container, labelled so that you never accidently mix the 2 up! The small containers make it much easier to suck the plastic up into the syringe, plus you don’t risk tipping over a bottle of plastic worth $15! Silicone molding of plastic can be a rewarding hobby, and you will have to use your brain to think up ways of solving molding problems, since each part is different!

This is a home made lathe. The conversion I did wasn’t giving me the best results. This one is far more accurate and will last a long time. It does a very precise job of making my parts.
